about
The existence of mtb# is pretty much down to Northernroutes (RIP), which listed hundreds of routes in Memory Map and Tracklogs formats, as well as some mapped routes. It allowed me to find new places to go on my bike when I was initially exploring outside my local area, and I began to collect all the routes in the general Yorkshire region. Then I found other sites and other routes (see links) and collected those too. Pretty soon my copy of Memory Map had slowed to a crawl because of the numbers of routes - I needed to do some spring cleaning! About this time Northernroutes went offline and so I decided that, while I was sorting out all the routes into their different areas, I might as well create this site as a front end to make them easy to find. I could even put it online for others to use, as I guessed they were missing Northernroutes as much as me. And here we are! I'm still collecting routes - ones I ride myself, or those from magazines and other sources, and they'll appear on here when I get them. I'm currently moving from Yorkshire to Oxfordshire so, while I'll miss the good old North, it'll be fun to explore a new area. If you've got a good route you'd like others to have a bash at, why not submit it to the site? Hopefully it'll all be useful to you - have fun! |
